OpenAI handles the voice. Codex or Claude performs the coding work locally. Claude Code can use Chrome after an explicit Sorema opt-in; Codex Chrome remains available when its local plugin and permissions support non-interactive work.

The local background agent that coordinates work is open source and connects outward. Sorema passes only a workspace you choose; Codex or Claude still acts under its own sandbox and approvals.

Outbound only
No inbound port, router setup or public address on your computer.
Workspace boundary
Sorema refuses paths outside the local allow-list. The coding agent’s actual file access still depends on its own permissions.

Voice usage runs on your own OpenAI account, not a shared credential.
No remote shell
Sorema exposes named operations, not a generic shell. Codex or Claude can still run commands allowed by its own configuration.

Does Sorema upload my projects?
No. Work happens through the coding agent on your machine. Sorema coordinates the task and stores its status and summary; it does not mirror your project into its cloud.
What happens when I close the browser?
The conversation ends, but an accepted task keeps running. Progress and completion are saved so you can ask about them later.
Which coding agents can it use?
The local agent currently supports Codex CLI and Claude Code, using the tools and permissions already configured on your machine.
Can Codex or Claude still use Chrome?
Yes, with local setup. For Claude Code, run sorema chrome enable; it is off by default and Sorema passes --chrome only when your installed CLI supports it. Codex can use its installed Chrome plugin when the local Codex runtime and permissions expose it.
Can it reach every file on my computer?
Sorema’s bridge refuses paths, traversal attempts and symlink escapes outside the workspace allow-list. Once Codex or Claude starts, its wider access is governed by that agent’s own sandbox, approval settings and operating-system permissions.
What does the beta cost?
Sorema costs €0 during the beta. Voice usage is billed by OpenAI on the API key you add, and Codex or Claude uses the account and plan you already configured. Future Sorema pricing has not been decided.
